Regional Information Campaigns of the BIZimpact Project
In 2009 the BIZimpact Project focused on a national information campaign in all Croatian regions with the aim of improving information levels among small businesses about new regulations and standards which will apply with the Croatia's accession to the European Union.
In accordance with BIZimpact's commitment to improve information to small businesses throughout the regions of Croatia, it has been agreed to pilot communication activities relating to certain of the eight fields in regions of Croatia where these are most relevant.
For each of the five Croatian regions outside Zagreb, one of the eight fields covered by the BIZimpact has been chosen. Information activities concerning that field were thus "piloted" in that region.
This ensured that every region of Croatia benefited from the Project's activities to the maximum possible extent. The expectation was that each region will develop "good practice" and expertise in the field, which can in future be shared with other regions.
Each "pilot" region therefore had a number of specific activities relating to its "pilot" field, in addition to general information activities concerning the BIZimpact Project and overall improvements to information for small businesses.
The pilot regions and field selected for each were as follows:
• North-West Croatia (Krapina-Zagorje, Varaždin, Koprivnica-Križevci, Bjelovar-Bilogora and Međimurje counties): standards for industrial products.
- Information Seminar was held in HGK Varaždin on 10 December 2008
• Lika, Kordun and Banovina (Sisak-Moslavina, Karlovac and Lika-Senj counties): state aid.
- Information Seminar held in HGK Karlovac on 12 November 2008
• Slavonia and Baranja (Osijek-Baranja, Vukovar-Srijem, Virovitica-Podravina, Brod-Posavina and Požega counties): standards for agricultural products.
- Information Seminar was held in HGK Osijek on 4 February 2009
• Istria and Primorje (Istria and Primorje - Gorski Kotar counties): competition policy.
- Information Seminar was held in HGK Rijeka on 11 February 2009
• Dalmatia (Zadar, Šibenik-Knin, Split-Dalmatia and Dubrovnik-Neretva counties): environmental protection.
- Information Seminar was held in HGK Split on 18 February 2009
The other three fields covered by the BIZimpact Project - consumer protection, intellectual property rights and public procurement - saw activities at both national level and throughout the regions.
